Level Control in Central Lubrication System
Ultrasonic sensors reliably detect the level of lubricant tanks
Relubrication at the right intervals is a must for optimum machine performance and maximum service life. Automatic central lubrication systems supply several points via a single system, with the lubricant being conveyed, metered and distributed from a central tank via the control system. Continuous monitoring of the lubricant level in the tank is necessary to ensure a consistent supply of lubricant. Depending on the consistency of the medium, agitators can also be located in the tank. Usually, in comparable applications, the maximum limit levels are monitored by special capacitive sensors that can mask out buildup. In the present application, however, a larger vessel is involved, which is why level detection is preferred. At the same time, the sensor used must be insensitive to adhering media.
Your Benefits
- Reliable media acquisition through targeted masking of interfering objects
- Simplified operation through parameterization with vessel geometry data for direct display of filling quantities
- High availability due to IP66, IP67 and IP69K protection classes
Robust and intelligent
With a measuring range of up to 1.3 meters, the IO-Link-capable LUS+ ultrasonic sensor is ideally suited for use in medium-sized tanks. In addition, thanks to its sensor head that can be freely rotated by 340°, the device can be mounted flexibly and can be reliably used even in the harshest environments thanks to its robust design in accordance with protection classes IP66, IP67 and IP69K. Its recessed and thus protected transducer makes the LUS+ insensitive to adhering media. In the event of overfilling, an air cushion prevents contact between the lubricant and the transducer.
Integration into the control system via IO-Link
The IO-Link interface enables continuous and bidirectional communication between the LUS+ and the control level. Intelligent and decentralized signal preprocessing turns the ultrasonic sensor into a smart data supplier for condition monitoring, thus ensuring increased system availability.
Parameterization with vessel geometry data
The LUS+ ultrasonic sensor can be parameterized via IO-Link with existing container geometry data so that it directly outputs distance, level or volume values - absolute or in percent. In this way, the consumption of the lubricant can be measured. Interfering objects, such as an agitator in the tank, are specifically suppressed via IO-Link using filter functions and time delays, so that reliable detection of the medium is guaranteed.
