Job Summary
As a Lead Assembler, you will be the go-to assembler within the Advanced Manufacturing Production Team (AMT), performing duties to assist the Supervisor. Under general direction, you would work along with the Supervisor to assist in providing support and direction with daily operations.
What will you do?
- Monitor the production plan during the day and move employees as needed to accomplish target production
- Develop and maintain rapport with others, but especially within the team, which allows for open communication and constructive feedback for day-to-day operations
- Serves as a liaison between, development, manufacturing, quality engineers and the production team
- Facilitate problem-solving discussions with key players to collect different viewpoints to reach the best solutions. Report line down time and non-conforming materials to management
- Collaborate with Supervisor to coordinate and deliver employee training to production operators ensuring that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements. Scope includes new-hire training, temporary employee training and on-going employee cross-training. Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to employees during training to maximize their learning
- Ensure team members are following the written instructions, visual aids, or travelers when working on product
- Perform quality checks on assemblies, finish goods and components
- Ensure proper procedures are used within the AMT area for Turck Connect, job confirmation, scrap, and rework process, Turck Tools completion, and the Work Request Sheet
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and be able to share experience and techniques with other team members. Show personal initiative and drive to learn new things and back up the Production Supervisor where needed
- Coordinate with and assist/backup other Lead Assemblers
- Assist in the collection and provide training key performance indicators (KPI’s). Update production metrics, Turck Connect timecards, and facilitate regular team communications. Provide updates on work request, help determine priorities and communicate
- Actively seek to improve documented procedures including but not limited to standard operation procedures and work instructions and provide suggestions for improvement and/or corrections to Manufacturing Engineer and Management
- Work with other departments (Planning, Stockroom, Manufacturing Technicians and Engineers, etc.) as needed, so that all required materials are available to team members to assemble
- Correct anyone who is not following preferred work methods and/or is working in an unsafe manner. Teach and uphold principles of 5S and waste elimination
- Assist in deploying Lean and Quality initiatives and actively support Kaizen and/or Continuous Improvement activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Basic reading and math skills
- Manufacturing/Production experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of soldering is a plus
- Advanced Manufacturing experience is preferred
- Basic computer schools (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
Working Conditions/Physical Demands, Travel, etc.
The job consists of both standing and sitting at a workstation and wearing safety glasses, covered shoes, and steel toe shoes in designated areas. The job does include some light lifting and carrying usually no more than 15-20 pounds. Requires ability to distinguish colors.
