Job Summary

As a Director of Manufacturing Engineering Development and Master Data, you will combine the responsibilities of manufacturing engineering development and master data management, focusing on optimizing manufacturing solutions and processes through the development process, ensuring data accuracy, and driving improvements in both areas.

What will you do?

You will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes, managing product data, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing strategic direction based on analytical insights. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manufacturing Engineering Development Responsibilities:

  • Product Design and Optimization: Design and develop manufacturing processes to optimize production, including methods of manufacture and designs of tools and equipment. Leverage analytical findings to influence design decisions and organizational strategy.
  • Product Development: Play a crucial role in product development, ensuring that the product can be manufactured efficiently and cost-effectively, while strategically guiding development approaches based on engineering insights.
  • Manufacturing Process Selection: Select appropriate manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, machining, 3D printing) based on product requirements and projected production volumes. Shape enterprise-wide manufacturing strategies through data-driven recommendations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek to improve manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. Use improvement findings to influence organizational priorities and resource allocation.
  • Problem Solving: Analyze complex problems, troubleshoot issues, and devise innovative solutions to improve processes and systems. Translate analytical results into strategic recommendations that drive organizational change.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including operators, technicians, and executives, to ensure effective communication and collaboration. Use collaborative insights to influence cross-functional approaches and priorities.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data from manufacturing processes to drive short- and long-term actions that support production, and shape strategic manufacturing initiatives through evidence-based recommendations.
  • Lean and Six Sigma: Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools to identify waste and support decision-making processes. Use methodology findings to influence organizational approaches to efficiency and quality.

Master Data Management Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain product master data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency while using data insights to influence enterprise data strategy.
  • Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures, shaping organizational approaches to data management.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues, strategically prioritizing improvements based on business impact.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and ensure data integrity, while guiding strategic approaches to data utilization
  • Support the development and implementation of data integration and data migration projects, influencing architectural decisions and implementation strategies.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices for master data management and advocate for strategic adoption of beneficial practices.
  • Use data to identify trends and patterns that can be used to improve business processes and operational efficiency, translating insights into strategic recommendations.

General:

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, and IT, while influencing strategic alignment across departments.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and concisely, translating complex data into strategic insights for executive decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development of new products and processes while helping set strategic direction based on manufacturing capabilities and data analytics.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices, influencing organizational adoption of innovative approaches.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing personnel while shaping departmental strategies based on operational findings.
  • Help establish strategic manufacturing roadmaps through evidence-based recommendations derived from engineering analyses and data insights.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or experience in a related field).
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering and/or master data management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to translate analyses into strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in conveying technical information to influence decision-making at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while shaping departmental and cross-functional strategies.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as ERP and PLM management tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and data governance principles.
  • Experience with data modeling, data integration and data migration are a plus.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence organizational strategy through data-driven insights and technical expertise.
